"My vision for our town is one of continuous improvement and
sustainable growth. I am particularly focused on neighborhood
infrastructure improvements, recognizing the need to reevaluate
and update our current designs to meet the demands of future
growth. Ensuring our infrastructure is resilient and capable of
supporting our community is paramount. Additionally, I am
committed to enhancing pedestrian safety and walkability by
fostering collaboration with transportation agencies to develop
pedestrian-friendly policies. Traffic has long been a challenge on
our island, and I believe innovative solutions can promote
walking and biking. thereby improving our quality of life.
Furthermore, I will advocate for responsible land use and
development policies that strike a balance between residential,
commercial, and tourism interests. Our island will inevitably
change, but it is crucial that we manage this change with
foresight and care, ensuring smart and sustainable growth."

These programs are part of the overall U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding award to Lee County in the amount of $1.1 billion to support longāterm recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.
Funding will go toward two projects: North (West) Island Water Tower and Facility and Parks and Recreation Projects. The Parks and Recreation Projects include Old San Carlos & Times Square Lighting Projects, Bay Oaks Community Pool Project, and Newton Park Beach Facility. Through these programs, the Town seeks to create improvements for the entire community in a continued effort toward recovery.
The Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs are competitive programs available to municipalities within Lee County. The Town has already received funding through the Recovery and Resiliency Planning block, and we continue to submit applications in an effort to secure more funding. All projects under these programs must meet a HUD National Objective as outlined by Lee County in the Action Plan.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach would like to thank Lee County for their continued support of the Town through our Hurricane Ian recovery process. These projects play a vital part in our build-back efforts, and we are excited to be one step closer to recovery.
